Jalapeno Cheese Bread 2007 Oregon's Best Winner
Makes one loaf.
Ingredients
¼ cup warm water
1 ½ teaspoons sugar
1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
Combine above ingredients and let stand 5 minutes.
Add:
½ cup sour cream
1 egg well beaten
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons diced canned jalapeno peppers
Combine:
1 ¾ cups Bob’s Red Mill Unbleached White Bread Flour
1 tablespoon Bob’s Red Mill Wheat Germ
¼ teaspoon Bob’s Red Mill Soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
Preparation
Add one half of the dry ingredients and mix well. Turn out on floured board and knead in the rest of the dry ingredients.
Let rise two times and punch down. After second rising shape into one small loaf and and let rise about 45 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes, or until nicely browned.
