2008 Oregon's Best Contests

Oregon's Best Contests bring a dash of fun to County Fairs and the Oregon State Fair.  Sponsored by local Oregon businesses, contests range from recipe contests that focus on a specific ingredient to competitions that judge fastest times and longest distances.

2008 Contests

Bob's Best Home Baked Bread Contest, sponsored by  Bob's Red Mill (PDF)
Every great baker knows that great bread starts with superb ingredients. Start your recipe for this contest with Bob’s Red Mill flours, cereals or grains and you will be well on your way to baking a blue ribbon loaf. Legendary miller Bob Moore uses century-old French buhr millstones to mill his flours in a time-honored method that keeps all the flavor and nutrition intact.

Delicious, Nutritious Summer Cheese Recipe Challenge, sponsored by the Dairy Farmers of Oregon (PDF)
Create your own original favorite snack, salad, main dish, side dish or dessert using your special blend of ingredients and one or more of any of the delicious tasting cheeses produced in Oregon.

Hermistion Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, sponsored by Hermiston Watermelon Growers (PDF)
Spit your way to fame by entering the Hermiston Watermelon Growers’ watermelon seed spitting contest. Try out your best seed spittin’ form with a seed from a plump, sweet and juicy Hermiston Watermelon.

Down Home Favorites Recipe Contest, sponsored by FLAV•R•PAC and Santiam Products (PDF)
We recall the aroma and taste of recipes that are special to each of us, passed down from generation to generation. We learned how to prepare these “down home” dishes from our families and friends. Sometimes the recipes are hard to capture – a little bit of this, a splash of that. Conjure up your memories of these special comfort foods, and prepare your favorite down home recipe using the fresh taste of FLAV•R•PAC and Santiam products.
